Two of the region’s leading commercial finance brokers are merging on 1 March 2025, bringing together established relationships which have arranged over £1bn in lending for South West companies.
Plymouth-based Balance for Business and Bedrock Business Finance will merge next month and retain the name of Balance for Business which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
The two companies which are led by Dave Ottley and Gary Spencer have worked together for over 10 years and see the merger as an opportunity to provide enhanced client service and further strengthen their reputation for getting deals done.
The combined Balance for Business will specialise in property investment and development finance; residential and commercial buy-to-let funding; commercial mortgages; bridging and auction finance and cashflow/invoice discounting. All underwriting and compliance will be delivered from its office at Forresters Business Park in Plymouth.
It will also continue its status as an Assured Member of the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers, an active partner organisation of the Professional Investment Group, and host its popular ‘Meet the Funders and Professionals’ event next year which sees it attract national property lenders, accountants, lawyers, and financial advisors to the city.
Commenting on the announcement, Dave Ottley, who will continue as Managing Director of Balance for Business, said:

Gary Spencer, who will join Balance for Business along with two business development managers from Bedrock Business Finance, explained:
